This safari takes you to some of Northern Tanzania’s most beautiful national parks. Not only will you see huge numbers of wildlife on the plains of the Serengeti, but you will also most likely spot the “Big 5” in the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater. The safari ends with a trip to the spice island of Zanzibar, famed for its historical colorful culture and sandy beaches.Itinerary
Day 1: KIA to Arusha
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport where a representative from Karibu Africa Safaris will be waiting for you. Upon completion of immigration procedures, you will be transferred to your accommodation in Arusha, the hub of tourism in Tanzania.Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
After an early breakfast, you depart for Tarangire National Park. The drive will take us through the city of Arusha then out to Maasai land where you can see Maasai grazing cattle and goats. Enjoy the game drive through the park which covers an area of 2,850 km2 and is famous for its large herd of elephants, some over 100 in number; and large baobab trees that dot the landscape as you head to your accommodation.DAY 3: Tarangire to Lake Manyara National Park
You will have an early breakfast then head out to Lake Manyara National Park for an early morning game drive. The beauty of the park begins at the park gate by driving through the lush forest, then open grassland before reaching the lake edge. To any game watcher, the park is a paradise, full of endemic species and a variety of birdlife. Expect to see various animals like elephants, hippos, impala, dik-dik, bushbuck, and if you a lucky, the famous tree-climbing lions of Manyara that have made this park world famous. You will return to the camp for hot lunch, and thereafter join local activities at Mto Wa Mbu, take a bike ride to the lake, or a walking safari to the village to experience the local culture and sample local products. This short adventure ends with a drive back to the camp in a tuk-tuk where a driver will be waiting to transfer you to your accommodation for the night.DAY 4: Ngorongoro Crater
Have an early breakfast then depart for Ngorongoro Conservation Area for a full day crater tour. You will descend into the crater; a fantastic experience on its own with beautiful scenery and majestic game life. At a depth of 610 m and a floor area of 260 km2, the crater is named one of the natural wonders of Africa and on a clear day, you can see the whole crater wall from the bottom. Considered Mother Nature’s zoo, the crater boasts a variety of large animals, approximately 25,000 in number including the rare black rhino. Lunch is at a picnic site with a view of hippos lazing in the shallow waters of the lake, followed by another game drive en route to the camp. On the way, you will have an opportunity to do a short safari walk; enjoy the landscape, and a chance sees local Maasai houses.DAY 5: Ngorongoro to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, we depart for Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti National Park is made up of grassland savanna, river trine forest, and woodlands, each providing a picturesque landscape. Known for its abundant diversity of wildlife, this park is most famous for its annual migration; a spectacular event as thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and antelopes try to cross the Mara River into Maasai Mara while fighting the river tide and the numerous crocodiles looking for an easy meal. There will be a stop at the crater viewpoint, where on a clear day offers views of the entire crater, then proceed with a game drive en route to your accommodation. An option of visiting the Maasai Bomas (houses) which are located inside the Ngorongoro plains is available for an opportunity to experience the Maasai culture.DAY 6: Full day in Serengeti National Park
A full day of game drive exploring the vast Serengeti and all that it has to offer; enjoying the different habitats found in the park full of different animals like lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, elephants, hippos, impala, zebras, wildebeest, Grant’s gazelle, Thomson’s gazelle, and many others. Serengeti also prides itself on its birdlife, boasting a variety of bird species that decorate the park with their different colors and sounds. The sheer size of the park and its changing scenery make it a day worth remembering to any visitor to this iconic part of Tanzania.DAY 7: Serengeti to Zanzibar
Early morning breakfast, enjoying the morning sun on the Serengeti Plains and nature followed by transfer to Fort Ikoma airstrip for your transfer to Zanzibar.****End of service**
